How to Get the Auto-Delivery Discount

…and What You Need to Do if You Cancel Early

Auto-Delivery is a good option for people planning to be on the South Beach Diet for at least 2 months. If you decide to cancel before your second shipment of meals goes out, there is an early cancellation fee of $125.

After your second month’s of meals are sent, however, you can cancel at any time, without paying a fee.

If you know right out of the gates that you only want to be on the diet for 1 month, you can place an order without auto-delivery, you just don’t get a lot of the discounts they offer.

PRO TIP: The Best Way to Cancel Early

If you decide you want to cancel the South Beach Diet’s meal delivery program early for whatever reason, there is a way that you can avoid having to pay the early cancellation fee, and still get something for your money!

If you call their customer support line, you can switch your order from the full meal delivery service to shakes for your second month.

A 30-day supply of shakes costs just a little more than the $125 cancellation fee, but at least you get something for your money (I think it’s about $130 total, or somewhere close to that)! Then, once you receive your order of shakes, you can call and cancel their service without paying a fee.

This is only if you signed up for the auto-delivery discounts, and if you also decide you don’t want to receive a second month’s worth of food.

Odds are, though, you’ll be staying on the program for more than a month if you really want to reach your weight loss goals, so this shouldn’t be something most people have to deal with or worry about.

Is Alcohol Allowed on South Beach Diet?

The short answer is yes, but there are some restrictions that you need to be aware.

Drinking During Phase 1

Phase 1 is the strictest Phase of the South Beach Diet, and alcohol is now allowed during this time.

The first phase is all about getting your body and mind adjusted to this new way of eating and living, while also losing the most amount of weight possible.

To accomplish this, you will follow a strict meal and exercise plan during the first two weeks of South Beach Diet, and alcohol is not part of that plan.

Don’t worry though, Phase 1 wraps up in just 14-days, and then you will have a bit more freedom to look forward to as you move into Phases 2 and 3…

Drinking During Phases 2 & 3

As you enter Phase 2, you can drink alcohol, but if you want to lose weight, it’s important to remember that moderation is key.

So how “moderate” do you have to be?

Well, South Beach Diet recommends the following, when you’re in “active weight loss” phase.

  • Limit Alcohol Consumption to 2 Servings per Week

Examples of What a Single Serving of Alcohol Looks Like:

  • 4 Ounces of Red or White Wine (Dry)
  • 1.5 Ounces of Liquor (Vodka, TEquila, Gin, Bourbon, Etc.)
  • 1 Can of Light Beer (Michelob Ultra is My Go-To)

Using these numbers, you could have two beers per week, if you’re trying to lose weight.

I prefer to save my drinks for the weekend. So I would typically have my 2 beers on a Saturday while watching sports or out with friends, but you’re free to ration them in whatever way works best for you and your schedule.

What Kind of Alcohol Can You Drink?

If you are going to have a drink and assuming you’re older than 21, South Beach Diet recommends going with dry wines and avoiding the sweet ones. Dry wines would include things like Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, etc.

They say you should avoid sweet wines or sugary drinks like wine coolers.

When it comes to liquor, they recommend avoiding using mixers that have sugar in them.

How Much Freezer Space do You Need

A good portion of the meals South Beach Diet sends you is frozen, which means you’re going to need a decent amount of freezer space to store everything.

This is a good thing, though, as the frozen food tends to be better, in my opinion.

That said, if you have a normal-sized refrigerator/freezer combo, you should have enough room for your South Beach Diet food, but you will need the freezer cleared out for the most part, so you can fit everything.
