1. One person complained at the 30-day trial membership, with them saying that within hours of placing their very first order they were charged the annual membership fee. The person went onto say that they were a rip-off and that they wanted their nearly $60 back, and that they were returning the product they purchased. They went onto complain about the company and said they disputed the charge with their bank.

Thrive did reply to this person. They insisted that once the trial is completed, then the annual fee is charged. Thrive said that this is outlined in their policy, right on the checkout page.

2. Another person had a similar complaint, saying that they were charged after signing up for their free trial membership. The customer said they chatted with a company representative, who allegedly told them that that’s the deal when people sign up. The person described the practice as being “scammed into a membership” and they requested a refund.

Like the previous complaint, Thrive Market did address this one. They apologized and said that if a member contacted them, they can cancel their membership, but they can also cancel via their website. They pointed out that the policy is clearly outlined on their checkout page.

3. According to a customer Thrive Market conducts business in a way that is sneaky and underhanded, pointing out that they were charged nearly $60 on their credit card. He went onto say it went on for a few years and that he didn’t even notice it. He finished by saying that if you buy a single item from the company, then you are automatically signing up for an annual membership. He added that people should stay away from Thrive Market.

Thrive Market replied and said they were sorry for the experience he had. Like the other responses, Thrive Market mentioned their policy that can be read at checkout. They also said that they send emails to trial members that their annual membership will be activated. Thrive said that sometimes emails end up in the spam basket.

4. A past customer said called Thrive Market a scam and that they used a code to use so they could receive a discount. However, the person said that on the two occasions that they did this, the discount was switched to a lower amount and that they contacted customer service over the issue.

They said that Thrive Market acted as if they were at fault, and the person continued to say that customers are being tricked by the company.

The person finished their review by saying that it appears that Thrive Market automatically signs people up for an annual membership, and that they don’t honor their cancellation policy.

Thrive Replied to the customer and they said they were sorry for the experience. They also admitted that the particular code that the customer used was experiencing a technical issue. The company continued to say that it would be contacting the person to resolve the problem.
